We had fun last Wednesday !
Laurie Lowe and Ian Da Pera killed it on Drums and Vibes.

An amazing guest Clarinetist also came down and shared the stage with the house band which made a great change of tone icon smile 22nd May 2013 Hoxton Jam Jam nights in london

Kelli-Leigh (vocals), Aidan Glover (keys) and Keir Moore (Guitar) also came down and preformed a cover of Amy Winehouse’s Stronger Than Me, which went down a storm!

Great Warm up set from Blastermind + band

So last Wednesday we did something different. we warmed up the Jam with a Rock pop set of Basterminds Songs. Trust me we were rocking out:

Then after his set Aliocha Thevenet, Andy Wilder, Mike Rowland, Joe Erber and Samer Sharawi opened the Jam with a Hard hitting fusion tune.

3rd April – Hoxton Jam

Fun was had by all at last nights Jam. Especially the house band who attempted Chick Corea’s “Got a Match?” at stupidly fast tempos … i think we just about held it together.

It was great having Marco Quarantotto back on House drums.. he has such a good sense of time and superb dexterity on the kit! its always a bit of challenge keeping up with him! icon biggrin 3rd April Hoxton Jam Jam nights in london

We had some great new faces turn up for the jam last night including Lewis Turner (awesome guitarist currently dabbling in a few west end shows) and David Baker (holding down some nice grooves on bass).

Epic gig with Cecilia Stalin last week!

BF18BlaCcAA3P3r 150x150 Epic gig with Cecilia Stalin last week! Jam nights in londonFirstly not only were we lucky to have Cecila Stalin down at the Hoxton jam and privileged to play her music but also we had Laurie Low on drums. It was an epic and packed out night!

Cecila started her set with Bogaloo Boy which is a great Jazz soul number and then after playing an amazing selcetion of other tunes we ended by playing Step Like a Giant, which is Cecilia’s own take on John Coltrains version of Giant steps.

Paul Jordanous also joined us last Wednesday on House Keys and Trumpet, along with the rest of the Hoxton Jam crew (Oli, Samer & Alex playing Sax, Bass & Guitar)

Laura Bartholomew and Sarah O’Brien shot some footage of the night too, so stay tuned for some Youtube clips soon !

7th March – Phil Brathwaith @ Hoxton jam

It was a pleasure have Vannessa May’s guitarist, Phil Braithwaite, in the house band last night. Keep an eye out for him as next week the will be travelling around the UK giving master classes at collages nation wide whilst promoting his latest book ‘Developing Phrasing Solos’

 

An upcoming band funk band called Ma’Grass (run by Matteo, a regular at H.J.) also came down and played a few numbers. Thier tunes are killing and they have also Alexis Kraniou in the band. Check out their new Ep here : Soundcloud.com/MAGRASS

Last wednesday was another busy Hoxton Jam with some top musicians passing by!

To start with we had Gizelle Smith open the Jam with her tunes. it was great seeing her before she leaves with with Alexis and the rest of her band for a tour of Europe.

We had one of Londons top bass players Rick James making an appearance last weds along with an amazing sax player called Sam Healey who travelled down from Manchester for the Jam. And to top it off Laurie Lowe came down again to play drums…. all of the musicians were on fire last night.

House band last Wednesday was also a tight line up and consisted of:

Marco Quarantotto – Drums
Oli Arlotto – Sax
Paul Jordanous -Keys/Trumpet
Samer Sharawi – Bass
Alexis Kraniou – Guitar

Hoxton Jam – 9th Jan 2013

Happy New Year !

So the 9th of Jan was our first Wednesday back, and we loved it

The house band opened with some new tunes which include Donna lee & Funky Sea, Funky Dew, and for our first Jam of 2013 we had Andy Wilder back on house drums along with the usual H.J. crew of Samer, Alexis and Oli

In addition to the great crowd  there were also some special guests in the house. Firstly Graeme Flowers on Trumpet who is part of the London Horns popped in and played some great funk numbers.
Secondly another trumpeter, Miron Rafajlovic a Canadian touring musician from the Cirque du Soleil, KOOZA show (now playing in the Royal Albert Hall).
And finally Andy Gangadeen (Incognito, Duran Duran, Massive Attack, the Spice Girls, The Bays and Jeff Beck) who came down to check out the vibe.

We are back next Wednesday, so we hope to see you then!

Its Getting Close to Xmass!

So to celibate the fact that we as musicians get a few days off over the Christmas period The Hoxton Jam crew have decided to put on a special Xmass Jam on the 19th December with some special guests!

but until then we will still be running our normal schedule of Wednesday nights  :-)
