So last Wednesday we did something different. we warmed up the Jam with a Rock pop set of Basterminds Songs. Trust me we were rocking out:
Then after his set Aliocha Thevenet, Andy Wilder, Mike Rowland, Joe Erber and Samer Sharawi opened the Jam with a Hard hitting fusion tune.

Firstly not only were we lucky to have Cecila Stalin down at the Hoxton jam and privileged to play her music but also we had Laurie Low on drums. It was an epic and packed out night!
Cecila started her set with Bogaloo Boy which is a great Jazz soul number and then after playing an amazing selcetion of other tunes we ended by playing Step Like a Giant, which is Cecilia’s own take on John Coltrains version of Giant steps.
Paul Jordanous also joined us last Wednesday on House Keys and Trumpet, along with the rest of the Hoxton Jam crew (Oli, Samer & Alex playing Sax, Bass & Guitar)

A big shout out to Eric Ford and Holley Gray for playing Drums & bass in the house band! We had a nice turn out last night and a good vibe.
Alexis our house guitarist just about made the jam as he nearly got stuck in France after being on a short tour with Gizelle Smith, as on the way back to the UK the Snow was so bad that they cancelled all Eurostar trains from Paris for a few days.
We have a very special Hoxton Jam next week as Cecilia Stalin will be doing a short set at the Hoxton Jam, we are very excited about having her down next week.
Swedish born London resident Cecilia Stalin’s breakthru came with Nu Jazz act Koop “Waltz For Koop” ft on Woody Allen’s ”Match Point” film soundtrack. Cecilia has done live shows with The Streets, Cinematic Orchestra, recording collabs with Daz-I-Kue, & has had music out on labels as Compost, Wagram, Jazz FM & Universal Music.
She has also worked with Reggie Workman’s Coltrane Ensemble.

Last wednesday was another busy Hoxton Jam with some top musicians passing by!
To start with we had Gizelle Smith open the Jam with her tunes. it was great seeing her before she leaves with with Alexis and the rest of her band for a tour of Europe.
We had one of Londons top bass players Rick James making an appearance last weds along with an amazing sax player called Sam Healey who travelled down from Manchester for the Jam. And to top it off Laurie Lowe came down again to play drums…. all of the musicians were on fire last night.
House band last Wednesday was also a tight line up and consisted of:

Paul Jordanous -Keys/Trumpet
Samer Sharawi – Bass
Alexis Kraniou – Guitar

To make a change for a once it was quite a relaxing Hoxton Jam last wednesday, with enough time for everybody to get a few chances at playing !

It was great to see Reuben Harsant and Ben Trickey from Sewage at the Hoxton jam last Wednesday it was a killer vibe. Also its worth keeping an eye on Alessio Barelli, he is a fantastic drummer who has been coming down to the Jam recently!
The House band (Samer, Oli, and Alexis) was once again blessed to play with Omar AKA BlasterMind Scape on drums. we brought to life some of Alexis original tunes, which i am sure u will all get to hear recorded versions of soon.
I also received a great HD recording of the House band set back in December 2012 thanks to Ben Turnbull.

Alexis is one of the of the core members in the H.J crew and also is the House guitarist, last Wednesday was his Birthday so that means there was free cake !
We also rocked out a few of Blasterminds orginal tunes and played some heavy Jazz fusion as usual.
The cool thing about the Hoxton Jam night is that you never know who is going to turn up.. last night we had Rick James come down and also a great drummer called Laurie Low.
At the moment it seems the house band are picking more and more challenging tunes every week lol … so it will be interesting to so what happens next wednesday …. i have a feeling some more Brecker Brother stuff will be in the mix

So the 9th of Jan was our first Wednesday back, and we loved it
The house band opened with some new tunes which include Donna lee & Funky Sea, Funky Dew, and for our first Jam of 2013 we had Andy Wilder back on house drums along with the usual H.J. crew of Samer, Alexis and Oli
In addition to the great crowd there were also some special guests in the house. Firstly Graeme Flowers on Trumpet who is part of the London Horns popped in and played some great funk numbers.
Secondly another trumpeter, Miron Rafajlovic a Canadian touring musician from the Cirque du Soleil, KOOZA show (now playing in the Royal Albert Hall).
And finally Andy Gangadeen (Incognito, Duran Duran, Massive Attack, the Spice Girls, The Bays and Jeff Beck) who came down to check out the vibe.
We are back next Wednesday, so we hope to see you then!
